In September 2017, Maison et Object brought together nearly 80,000 professional visitors to explore 45,500 M2 exhibition area and over 1,000 exhibitors. The event was composed of 9 halls that covers 3 major sectors Cook & Share, Home & Fashion Accessories and Smart gadgets under the sign of “Comfort Zone” and well-being at home.
This amazing and lavish platform merges business with creativity to divulge unique solutions and inspiration to visitors from all over the world. This year The Concept had the chance to visit this big event and will share with you the trendiest and stylish releases for autumn winter 2017/2018.
Through my journey at this innovative platform, I was able to decode the emerging signs of creativity as well as new innovative ideas.
Below are some of the most exciting elements of design from the event that are expected to be big trends this season.
- Urban and Contemporary Styles
Contemporary living, urban/ industrial style with a vintage touch were the dominant styles especially that those style were occupying the largest halls inside the space. Colorful furniture, natural rustic wood brushed metal and natural marble were compelling during this season. This was noticeable through the display of myriad luxurious and well-known brands like Brabbu, Roberto Cavali, Hamilton Conte, Flamant, PH collection etc…
- Trending Colors
A soft and tender light pink, blue pastels, , soft coral, peach and yellow color shades as well as the earthy colors that symbolize ground forces, such as deep green colors, red wine and orange color are modern color trends for 2017/2018.
- Natural and Unfinished Wood
Aged and textured wood, salvaged wood , rustic textures and recycled crafts which offer unusual ways to reuse and recycle are modern design trends. Modern interior design trends 2017 are about creating fundamentally new things out of old items and respecting the natural finish of the material to reach a beautiful home furnishings.

- Geometric and Colorful Patterns
Nature inspired motifs, classic decoration patterns, Bright colored seamless pattern, graffiti stylized abstract wallpaper with grunge effect and geometrical ornament and ethnic ornaments are beautiful design trends 2017.
- Revival of Velvet
The velvet is coming back this season. Soft touch, velvet furniture for maximum comfort. With its slightly retro look, it immediately brings a chic and warm touch to the interior decoration. On the color side, choose a deep hues that will contrast with the rest of the decor.
- Metal and Brass revival
Metal and Brass were dominant in Masion et Object this year along with other warm metallic counterparts such as copper and bronze with all its finishes -Flattened, folded brushed or polished surfaces. Designers were using them through chandeliers, pendant lights, tables, dressers, chairs, bath and kitchen fixtures and decorative accessories.
Metal can be used in wall paneling , furniture , accessories etc..

- Marble and Natural stones
If the marbled pattern has caused a sensation lately, the material itself is more than ever present in our interiors. Whether on furniture or accessories, marble is everywhere, especially the white, black and green marble.

- Greeneries and indoor plants
Indoor plants, vertical gardens, and live wall design balance are essential to modern spaces. House plants harmonize living spaces and create a healthier environment for people. Indoor plants improve urban design and add an outstanding charm to your interior.
